What sucks the most is when a great movie doesnt get a nod. And I know of no better movie (in the year 2007 anyway) than 3:10 to Yuma. Instead you get the usual crap no one really watches. The staple boring dramas (No Country: for the middle-aged film critics), the sappy girly movie (Atonement: for the feminists), and the supposedly well-written comedies (Juno: for the writers; well I can’t really blame them for this one – at least not this year). Neglected yet again are the cutting-edge and the imaginative films that continuously push the envelope year after year. What happened to Gangster (Scarface of our generation)? What happened to 3:10 (singlehandedly revived the spaghetti western)?! What happened to Superbad?! These are movies that people actually watch and enjoy. Last time I checked that was the whole point of going to the movies. Do I hear an amen?
I think Russel Crowe and Christian Bale got robbed. They at least deserved a best actor/supporting actor nomination for their roles in the movie. Boo to you, Academy (and your snobbish selections). Jeez, learn to throws us a bone every now and then.
